oliversgoldfish's Notizen, 28 Mrz 08

Well, it's still so so hard at the moment due to the lack of routine and the imminent arrival of aunt flo.

The last couple of days have seen an Indian meal, a trip to the cinema and a pizza hut.......I find it almost impossible to keep any handle on my points at all.....plus aunt flo is due to arrive on monday so I feel like I could eat anything and everything....DOUBLE plus I'm headed off to visit my dad in Spain on Monday for 3 days and have been informed that we will eat out most of the time in order to keep my 5 year old entertained....lol...

In all honesty, part of me is trying to hang on and stick to WW as much as poss but there is a growing part of me that thinks it's just too hard until the school hols are over and I can get back into routine...... I will do my best to eat well and healthily as much as is possible and I have a new DVD to start once the hols are over too - a yogalates one so I'm looking forward to that too :)

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Hang in there!! Small choices can make a difference. If you take time off I know you will get back on track when the Holidays are over! And Aunt Flo is such a downer. Enjoy your holiday!!

Don't get discouraged. Any effort is better than no effort at all. Perhaps try to take a page from the Golden Rules I am following when you are unable to really track points. Once you've identified that it is real hunger (and not emotional), let yourself eat the food you want at the time. But "eat consciously". That is, slow down and don't rush. Take a small bite and chew it thoroughly (at least 20 times) and allow yourself to really taste it. Put your knife and fork down between bites. If it is a slice of pizza, put it down between bites. The point of this is to get the most enjoyment out of the food and by eating more slowly you allow time for your stomach to send the "full" signal to your brain which typically takes 10 to 20 minutes after you've begun eating. When you start to feel full, stop eating. You will most likely notice that there is still food left on your plate. Box it up to take home or whatever but don't continue eating past the full signal. You will find a greater sense of control and be able to eat less without feeling deprived. You can use these "rules" with any food plan really so you can still track points when you are able. Either way, the stressing over the change of routine is more detrimental than any extra calories you might consume. So try to relax and enjoy your holiday while being mindful of your mission to make healthier choices when you can.

Presumably the eating out were unplanned events - if not, try eat very low point meals for the rest of your meals so that you can still enjoy your eating out. If I go over points one day, I just lower them the next... or else do some exercise to try work off the extra. You can do it and survive that holiday next week, even with the eating out... just try and make wise choices and focus on how well you've done so far. Don't be discouraged by a few off days now and then when maybe we don't do as well as we might want to. I fully empathise with the wanting to eat everything with aunt flo coming to visit too, as I get like that too sometimes. Sometimes I don't even realise, then wonder why I'm wanting to go on a munchie session! Yogalates sounds fun... so I hope that you enjoy it. I'm sure that once you get into it you will want to do more! You have a lovely holiday though and don't stress about that eating out... as you can still have nice things, but keep making those healthier choices. Focus on the challenge and your team! That's what keeps me going when I have a not so good day. You can do it girl... so keep going. ;o)

No worries! The girls have given such great advice on the subject, all I can add is to take it one day at a time, one meal at at time -- and remember that we're here for you no matter what happens :D
