Here is my contribution to the positive effects of resistance training. The first picture is last October, I weighed around 195 lbs, this is also when I started my resistance training. ( I've been going for one year now, every Mon, Wed and Friday) The second set of pictures is one year of training, I weigh 196.7 here. I weigh more but my measurements are all down and I am slimmer. I am by no means disillusioned and think I am super muscular! Lol, but everything is starting to fill in. I also feel amazing, I feel 15 years younger ( I am 46 ). Cutting calories helped me lose the weight, but lifting weights definitely helped with my body composition. This is why the scale can be deceiving for those who lift.

As per the weight gain, since August 1st I switched things up and stopped eating at a deficit and started eating at around 150 to 200 calories over maintenance. So I've gained 5.7 lbs since August 1st, but also eating at a surplus for the first time while lifting is amazing. Lol. The strength gains are through the rough, not the first month, but the past 3 weeks I really noticed a difference. I'll keep eating this way for a little more, then switch it back to a slight deficit.

Exactly you increase a little you decrease a little and you just keep eating and exercise for life. It’s a lifestyle. That reminds my next deficit will be mmmm next month. Thanks for the reminder 😉

Wow! I am impressed with your definition Kennyn27! I'll have to give your new regime a try. I also have been going to the gym on Monday, Wed. and Fri. and feel better than I have in years. Started at 245, currently at 201. Wish me luck.

I wanted to respond sooner but had a crazy week at work. Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words and encouragement, it means a lot! @dpprincess yes, results are achievable in 3 days a week, the other days I'm not sedentary, I do a light stretching, almost yoga routine on my off days, that definitely lets me go 100% on the intensity meter the days I go to the gym. @moe good luck! There are a lot of programs out there and youtube fitness gurus, but the guys I keep going back to are Jeff Cavaliere at athleanx, it's his workouts I've been doing for the past year. I also like Jeremy Either at Built with Science and Mike Matthews at Legion. @cb lol, funny you said that, some of the workouts were called unleash the beast! Lol.... Once again, thanks for all the encouragement!

@diablo, yes I agree, lifting is the way! Any sort of lifting. It has definitely changed my life for the better!

KETO and LC diets seem to be a stepping stone for a continued lifestyle change. When one finds out they CAN drastically effect how much they can loose by changing what they eat, many dig deeper into other healthy lifestyle changes. You are a great example of just that! Great job! I gotta find more time to lift!
