LisaPhenon's Notizen, 18 Apr 13

Ok, I went a little crazy with the shopping. I expected to get maybe a couple of dresses and a few tops. I went to this plus size consignment shop, and everything was so cheap and really good name brands. I got 7 dresses, a skirt, a pair of shorts, a tube top, and a pair of jean capris. Some of the stuff is a little snug, so I'll be able to wear them even when I lose more weight, and the best part is that I'll be able to trade them in later. I'm pretty happy. I only spent about $140.

That's wonderful! Don't discount the power of good undergarments either-spend another $60 and get a Spanx bodysuit, the thing can suck you in by at least a couple of inches and smooth everything out. If it's only a little tight, this can make it fit. You're all set for summer then aren't you?

Yeah, I'm pretty much ready. I just need sandals to match all my dresses. What's really cool is that all these colorful dresses have inspired me to make more jewelry. It's amazing what a shopping trip can do for your mood.

LOL-it is, isn't it? I made another necklace last night, now I just need to make the dress it's supposed to match. I need sandals too, now that you mention it. I got one pair of wedge heel sandals in pewter with little gray stones on them, which will go with a lot of things, but I need some in teal or turquoise. I have one pair but they're almost worn out.

Yeah, after I hung up all my new clothes, I looked at my shoe collection and almost laughed lol. I need so many different colors. I'd like to see your jewelry and clothes that you make. I'm so curious. I just started making jewelry. I took a beading class which was great because I needed to know how to attach the clasps. I made a really pretty necklace in the class. I was really excited yesterday because one of the dresses I bought matches beautifully with my necklace. Last week, I went to Hobby Lobby and got all my supplies and beads to make more stuff. So far, I've made a pair of earrings for my boyfriend's mother, but I wore them and got a compliment. Now I want to keep them lol. I also made a pair of earrings to go with a necklace that I'm going to make. It's a fun hobby.

LOL-well you can make her another one, ya know-the beads don't cost that much! I'm still working out the best way to attach clasps-for the time being I'm big on crimp beads and jump rings, but I'm sure there's a better way. I have long hair so no one ever sees the clasp, so if it's ugly I don't worry about it a lot. @shoes-you know, if you can find a metallic sandal in the same shade as your skin, you're good to go. Metallic goes with everything, and if you match your skin...well really, that's all you need. I go with silver or pale gold but I'm slightly paler than rice, so...@ sewing. Right now the project up next (after the current one which is a popover shirt) is a dress, Vogue 8870, View A. It has a wrap bodice and a high-low skirt, with raglan sleeves and elastic at the waist to gather. I may even (GASP!) wear a belt with it! Oh and I made earrings with the leftover beads, to have a set! LOL! I hardly ever wear a set of jewelry but sometimes it's fun.

Very cool. I'm just a beginner with jewelry making, so my clasps probably don't look any better than yours, but I'm eager to learn different ways. I'm pretty good with the crimp beads though, especially with my necklace. You can't even tell unless you look really close. Sounds like you have a lot of projects going on. I'll look into a milk chocolate/coffee with cream color sandal to match my skin lol. That's probably my best bet since I probably won't be able to buy a pair of shoes for each outfit.

Well I need pointers from you because my crimp beads look AWFUL-probably because I'm not using a crimping tool. I'll bet they'd look a lot more like beads and a lot less like collateral damage if I used the right tool. I've ALWAYS got a lot of projects going on, I'm easily distracted.

lol, how are you attaching crimping beads without a crimping tool? There's a particular way that you flatten it and then fold it over. The crimping tool has a groove for flattening and groove for folding it over. I think that other styles are probably neater, but it doesn't have to look like "collateral damage" lol.

PLIERS! They flatten out, and look frankly dangerous. I'll pick up a crimping tool tonight, I go hang out at the fabric store while my son is in Kung Fu getting smacked around, so I'll pick up a crimping tool and actually read the directions on how to use it. I need some jump rings and chain as well, and I'm thinking of trying memory wire. So far I've just used the nylon stuff but some of these beads are quite heavy and I'm afraid it isn't strong enough.
