I started the changes to my diet with a 2400 calorie per day limit. I tried to go 80-100% of that number. Then I dialed that back to 2100, tried to stay 80-100% of that number. Now I'm at 1800 (same 80-100%). Went to the cardiologist for annual yesterday. She approves of the new exercise regime but suggested 1500 cal/day. Just the thought produces anxiety and the desire to eat out of fear of being hungry. Intellectually I know it is possible with planning and smart choices. emotionally I'm afraid I can't do it and will be overcome by events. Ok, first - don't panic. Second - ??? Plan I guess.

I hope you don't mind my comment - but looking at your food journal, getting down to 1500 calories won't be as hard as you think. I noticed a couple things - some of the items you eat can be substituted for lower calorie options. Instead of eggs, use ReddiEgg from Trader Joe's or the more common Egg Beaters. They are half the calories and just as yummy! Instead of a regular English muffin, there are bagel thins, or lighter english muffins. I hadn't noticed any, but if you like cheese, there is 2% cheese. The biggest thing I noticed is you have a sweet tooth :-) I have a philosophy - if you deprive yourself of the things you love, you'll just wind up giving in and overindulging. Those things have ALOT of calories, and they don't really fill you up. If you like candy, maybe try eating just a smaller portion. Or instead of a donut, you can make cakes with diet soda instead of the egg/oil. (1 can is all it takes). Cuts the calories down tremeandously and you can have a portion that's almost the size of a donut! It's all about just finding things that still taste good but are a little lower in calorie content.
