Found this little guy yesterday on my walk. He appears injured on the right eye down to the nostril. His parents were circling above him trying to protect him. He’s a fledgling. Can’t fly yet so just out in the open where a coyote, cat, eagle or hawk would certainly have finished him off (he was in a driveway a few houses down from me). Took his to PAWS wildlife rescue this morning-100 mile round trip for me. They said he is very thin, low temp and are thinking it may be systemic. Not a good prognosis but i will keep him in my prayers. Poor baby. What a rough start to his young life. I think his parents are ones i feed daily on my morning walks so i sure hope they know somehow i am trying to help. Sounds like without intervention he would certainly have passed out there one way or the other. At least he has a chance this way.

yeah, I call it kidnapping, too. a few years ago, I had to kidnap a young crow who was acting weird. he was returned to them but for two years after, I was mobbed by the parents every time I exited my front door. they'd yell and throw sticks at me. 🤣

Sherylquintanasmith-this morning when hubs left on his run with one of our pups there was one in our backyard on the tree giving the danger cry. I feel so bad. I went out to try and calm him down (not that i could, nor did i know what i was doing other than talking quietly to him/her) and he flew in a huge circle around where hubs was running and back to me. Tried to give him peanuts (which i had stopped doing at my house) and he/she wouldn’t even take it. Hubs wasn’t even with me when i took their baby. It’s truly sad.

I love it! My husband says if I could I have every animal that needed a home with us (and I certainly would). You’re a good soul and the bird will be back to see you🥰

@spencershae i took him to a wildlife rescue about 50 miles away. They didnt think he/she was doing well so i hope you are right. I pray for this little fledgling nightly and will continue until i know his/her fate which will be sometime next month. They said they will email me an update in about 6 weeks.
