mornin fat secret.well today should be interesting.lil mountains friend I call him Ralph mouth great kid him and his family wanted to raise a hog so him and his dad are here today for the processing.They are not from this type of lifestyle so the teaching begins today.I asked Ralph mouth and his daddy if they named him Ralph says dinner 🤣

LOL. I was in grade school when my dad and his farm friend took me with them to the slaughter house to watch a pig get slaughtered. The Kill room was all concrete with a drain in the floor and they strung the squealing pig up in the air by it's back feet and slit it's throat. Lots of blood flowed and the toothless pig-killing-ghoul put a coffee cup under the draining blood and drank it. No joke. I didn't know if this was for my benefit or just business as usual but I wasn't your typical little girl and kept my cool. When he offered to share I passed on it. I tend to think they must use a little more humane method now. Very messy and noisy. Dad later apologized. I think it actually bothered him more than it did me but I have not forgotten it. LOL.

sk17 no blood sausage that goes to the compost.Mortica Addams I shoot them with a .22 and then hang them. it's quick not even a squeal now back in the day it was brutal I seen that As a kid it freaked me out being little. but as I got older I understood the process.sk17 this hog is an American guinea hog.they thought he weighed 300 lbs I seen him and said nah he was 172 lbs perfect size.he will yield between 65-75lbs of meat.chops. sausage. small tenderloin.and salt one side of belly for bacon.They are a terrific tasting pig I myself love the taste of them almost as much as wild hog those are my favorite pig.

you're a good friend to teach someone how to raise their own healthy food! I would love to have enough land for a few cows and a few pigs to share. I think in my past life, I lived in nature somewhere. I don't have anyone to teach me. I might just go buy a quarter and a pork from a local rancher when I get enough money.

JenJabba we love this kid he is funny and his parents are good folks.When we first met him he use to ask what did you say we have that Appalachia draw. I call him Ralph mouth because when he starts he don't stop.him and lil mountain are down lime four flat tires.he gets to.learn a skills with us that will benefit him.

Mountsinman2– wild boar can carry parasites and other diseases just like domestic pigs, the Important thing is to take precautions if you are doing your own butchering and cook to an internal temp in the neighborhood of 170 degrees. Maybe even a little higher. I can’t remember the exact temp.— consult GOOGLE for the full info on cooking recommendations.

I figured there must be some better way than what I witnessed. I think it was helpful for me to know at a young age exactly what meat is and what people have to do in order to provide it for us. Bacon, sausage, pork tenderloin, chops, ham, shoulder, beef steaks, briskets, roasts, chicken breasts, turkey breasts, fish are some of my favorite things to eat. So I am glad that I don't have to be the one to do the killing, gutting, cleaning, and dressing. I will do the cooking. LOL.
