Do you do any strength training currently? If not it’s something to consider, could potentially make a big difference.

Have you considered compounded semiglutude?

Common reasons for metabolism shut down - sugary and highly processed foods, caffeine, undereating calories for too long, nutrient deficiencies, and medical conditions, like diabities and thyroid disease. I hope you feel better soon!!

The fact that you keep trying tells you that you do not want to give up completely. It’s just time to try a new approach. 💙

Do you exercise? Are you active? outerlimit has good questions. Keep at it, you've had success before. What is different?

If I remember correctly, you’re actually pretty buff, just start doing more of that strength training again. Consider this last year a bulk. Press on, press on.

I don't see you as a quitter. My metabolism is better if I eat enough protein with every meal. I don't eat any carbs without protein. If I eat at the same time every day it helps. Green tea helps. And eating spicy food. Plus when I exercise more. I can tell the difference when I do that.

Take a walk, or do something 30 min after you eat. If you eat and foods with sugar be sure to eat fat with it. If you strength train, more then likely you will not loose much weight, you have to depend on how you clothes feel and how well you move. The face is the first indication, that you are going in the right direction. The variables are endless. You have to do endless investigations. Sodium is a big thing, if it high sodium in your food, that means it altered. People talk about sugar which they should but sodium is a big thing especially if you work out.

I sort of feel like Siegels, the scale does not move but I notice my clothes getting bigger and bigger on me, that's when I say yeah, I'm rocking this!! I even tried hiding my scale, only to find myself dragging it out everyday anyway 🙃 😅

Check your hormone levels as well. Stress can raise Cortisol.

Siegel, I know you work out & you look great in your pictures. So what has changed recently? Instead of giving up, perhaps reevaluating your current plan might help resolve the problem. I'm pulling for you! 💚💜💛

I'm 5'6" 57(m) and 140 lbs now. I lost 5 lbs in 10 days. I want to lose 5 more. I've found the only way I can lose weight is hi protein/fat and extremely low carb. No grains (including corn, rice, quinoa, millet - NO GRAINS), no legumes, no nuts, dairy or soy. This would be Paleo/Bulletproof/Keto if I ate beef but my girlfriend is Hindu so I eat mostly eggs/fish and vegetables, Quest bars + my breakfast is vital protein powder in Bulletproof Coffee and for lunch I have more coffee with protein powder but no butter/MCT oil in the coffee this time. Then I have one meal for supper, usually eggs & veggies, no more than 400 calories. Then 4 Quest bars to snack on until I go to sleep. This comes in around 1800 calories, which allows me to drop pounds. If I don't stick to this I maintain or gain. That's what works for me. Good luck!

I'm a postmenopausal woman, so I'm sure our bodies are entirely different, but I can't lose if I drop too low in calories. And if I plateau, I have to bump my calories up a couple hundred a day for 2-3 days to spark another loss. Maybe worth a try?

Hi Siegels ...Try Overeaters Anonymous...we are free ...I weigh and measure all foods, eat 3 meals with nothing in between and nothing after dinner...I have a defined food plan ...we believe we are addicted to flour, sugar and quantity...OA.org....on line 24/7/365

The problem with most of us on this site...thin or fat ...is we are addicts/....we get intense physic relief from processed foods...we eat alcoholically the only way to stop and stay stopped is with a program like the 12 steps I believe..weight is a symptom ..the issue is the mindset that forces us back to the food..in OA we say not that we are thin...we may be thin too and many are but we have stopped the insanity of getting thin and then regaining all the weight...I urge you to try it...check out 6 meetings...they all have a different focus..there is a 100 pounder group too..people who have lost hundreds of pounds and kept them off...

I've been dealing with that & frustrated, too. My issue was weight gain from a medication making my initial weight loss impossible. A radical change? Have you tried the Carnivore diet? Doing that for a couple of months makes most people drop any inflammation weight and also is muscle saving. Just eating meat (as much as you need to feel full) without breading can help then you can start adding some healthy veggies when you feel better. I basically follow Dr. Eric Westman's diet which allows low carb veggies and some dairy. It is doable. My weight loss is slow due to disease & illness but for most people this way of eating gives hope. I do hope you figure out what works for you.

Thank you all for the wealth of ideas and support. There's a lot of great ideas in there, and it's remarkable that you made time to help someone you don't personally know. It says great things about you individually, and as a community. Answers: I exercise 30 minutes every day. Weights 5-6 days a week, with chores (e g , gardening or repairs) on the rest. I try to eat 33% if my calories from protein. My wife and her friends prefer all carbs, all the time. I've had to choose between eating what I want and eating with whom I want to be. Aging is hard. At 60, I use fewer calories than I used to for the same day. It's not understanding that I lack, it's making bad food choices. Lastly, stress level has been super high for a long while, but got better 2 weeks ago with a job change. I'm looking forward to seeing posative results of that in all areas of life. Wishing you all the very best.
