Did I read that right... 72 hours?! I am in awe of your will power. WOW. You've got my respect! How was it? Ive done 27-28 hours and it wasnt bad. But 72, that is amazing. Was it your first 3 day fast?

Windy Day ~ thanks! I used to do extended fasting more regularly but haven’t lately but no, this was not my first 3-day fast. The first day was fairly easy especially since I was also dry fasting for the first 24-hours so all I thought about was water 😂. My husband asked me what was I going to break my fast with and I was like, ice cold water bro. It was actually only supposed to be a 24-hour fast but I felt like I could push it further so I did. The second day is always the toughest for me and then beyond that is usually a breeze. Thankfully I’ve flexed my fasting muscle enough times that I usually don’t think about food and my energy levels stay even, although day two I only walked 3 miles instead of my usual 6. Usually the more you practice fasting, the easier it gets.

I become insane 👹 when I don’t eat with regularity. So fasting is not for me, but I support your efforts and I’m very interested in your journey. I think I understand the cleansing part but not really sure the benefits.

Youre a seasoned faster. I think I might could do 48 hours, but only by keeping up with water and liquids. My hat's off to you!

Sarah1950 ~ thanks for the support! Thankfully Yom Kippur (why I was fasting) fell on the part of my cycle where my body doesn’t mind fasting so I didn’t have to fight it or feel insane, like you said. Now, if it would’ve occurred a mere few days later, like now, it definitely would’ve been a struggle and I wouldn’t have gone beyond the 24-hours. Fasting has a ton of benefits but I like to utilize it to give my system a rest from excessive insulin and get that blood sugar reading down. With this fast, I had the lowest reading in months; it was 69 mg/dl. I’m so pumped about that and might start incorporating a 72-hour fast once a month if I feel like it. But I do like eating so we’ll see 😂.

Windy Day ~ I actually don’t like dry fasting and I only do it for The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). Any other fast, gimme all the water/liquids, although my thirst level usually decreases with fasting. 🤷🏻‍♀️ My hat is also off to you for even considering a 48-hour fast and I fully support you!😀

Gotcha. That is awesome! I am Christian but I celebrate Hannukah, Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot. Ive never fasted for Yom Kippur, but I only started keeping the Holy Feast Days a couple years ago. I may fast for YK this year as I think it would be very meaningful even as Christian. Thanks for your support!

Totally encourage and support any religious/ spiritual/ zen fasting. As a fallen Catholic I’ve done my share too, prior to our EC II. As a penance or atonement for indulging in self, there is not much else that brings one comfort.

Windy Day ~ I was about to tell you YK has already passed, which is what I just fasted for, but then I realized on the world’s Gregorian solar calendar, it’s not until October. 😂 We set our calendar starting with the spotting of the green ears of barley and we follow a true lunar cycle based on when each new moon is actually spotted versus the “prediction” of each new moon. The Holy Feast cycle for the year will end next week for us.

Okino! Ive been wanting to ask you about that!! I really would love to know the actual dates as celebrated historically/biblically but dont know how to find or figure them. Do you know a website that publishes those dates accurately that I can refer to? I would love to learn more.

Windy Day ~ the website yahweh.com prints a new calendar every year that has all of the Holy Feast and new moons (although since it’s based on actual physical sighting, sometimes the dates change but they do their best to get it right). You can go online and request a physical calendar or download a pdf version (both free). I hope that helps!😊

Great! I'll be checking that out this afternoon. It's something that has been on my mind for so long, knowing the scriptural dates to keep them. I knew that the feasts were based on new moons etc, but I hadnt found a source that I could go to for that fluctuating accuracy each year. Thanks so much Okino! It is a huge help 😊 Hope you have a great day! 😊
