mskestrela's Notizen, 12 Sep 16

Good Monday morning, FS friends! Gee, isn't it nice to have the site swept clean? ;)
So, following up on yesterday's dilemma, I've agreed to meet John for lunch on Wednesday. And just to make it more interesting, in a 'double jeopardy' way, he picked a sushi restaurant. If you've been reading my journal for a while, you know that sushi is my one weakness, but even a little rice will bump up my weight 5 pounds. ACK! It's ok, though. I know the menu at this restaurant (I introduced him to the place), and I will be fine with sashimi and possibly hibachi steak, no rice, extra veggies.
I really appreciate all the input and advice on yesterday's journal. I have some wise friends who, doubtless, speak with the voice of experience. I will heed the cautions, and meet him with no expectations other than *just friends*. He is a really nice man, generous of spirit and non-judgmental. It will be nice to catch up on what's transpired in the last year.
Have a great week, stick to your plans, be true to your goals, and let's do this!

I love Ollie free Mondays because we can discuss freely without anyone jumping on us. Have a good time Wednesday and enjoy catching up. Personally, I'd starve in a sushi restaurant but my son and daughter-in-law love sushi so enjoy.

I'm with you Philly. If I'm going to pay for a meal at a restaurant the least they can do is cook it for crying out loud!! LOL!

Most sushi restaurants have cooked items too. This is a combination place, sushi and hibachi steak house. I actually prefer my fish raw, now. But it has to be *really* fresh! So while I will drool over the rolled sushi he will likely order, I will stick to my grain-free ways, and maybe, just maybe, get a chance to convert him. He's diabetic, so he'll get an earful over lunch! LOL

I am happy you will meet your friend, and I too, love sushi! And lastly, yes!!!! The site does feel cleaner and lighter! It seems a lot of us stopped posting and commenting because of all the nastiness...it feels good to be back...Have a great week!

Sushi, smooshie. Grill my fish and serve it dripping in butter. Or, just grilled. I love fish that is not overcooked or raw. Well, he passed up a good thing once already. I'd marry you myself if I wasn't already taken ;)

Super, I like sushi and Japanese/Chinese steak houses also! I normally have the hibachi protein and pass on the rice (even though it is yummy!) and sadly pass on the sushi unless I'm down in my weight, since the rice in it puts it on fast. And my friend likes that type of cuisine also! Another thing we have in common :-) We use to bring all the kids and a couple close friends once a year to a local one. His son is the same age as my oldest. ANYWAY take care and keep in touch! HUGS to you!

@Lady, you crack me up! Blessed Be, SisStar! @Iulani, Back atcha! @JMA, John wasn't a big fan of sushi until I taught him the ins and outs of really enjoying it. I think he chose the restaurant because he knows I love it. He's thoughtful that way. I also taught him to play backgammon, and then he proceeded to kick my butt at it by playing outside the common moves. I love when people can sometimes go with intuition over rules.

I'm excited for you! I have been in his shoes. Dated after losing someone and I was not ready. I broke things off, but that person could never give me a second chance. You are a good special person, even as friends! So often we meet people at the wrong time and our lives never to line up. I hope you STAY AWAY FROM THE RICE, and you keep your heart open. I hope he does too. Friends or more! Have some Saki for ME!

Sounds like you're ready for a good time and have your menu all planned out. Smart thinking. Enjoy good food with good company and maybe a game of backgammon afterwards. Wink wink.

@Lizzy, rice is my Kryptonite! As much as I've tried to embrace it, 'caulirice' just doesn't get it. It's frikkin cauliflower, and it tastes like cauliflower, not like rice! Rice is off the menu for good, so no worries there. Although, since I've been investigating the insulin index, I might try brown rice, once I get to maintenance. It's lower than white fish as far as spiking insulin.

Oh, and Sake is definitely on the menu! :D A small one, because it's carby, but it's oh, so good!

I'm glad you're going! Why not!

Ok kes, but brown rice with sushi? Just. Not the same. Lol. Maybe you meant brown rice alone. Sushi is my downfall too. If it didn't exist i could be a vegetarian pretty easily. I can eat the rice equivalent of what's around 4 rolls before it will effect my stomach.

Know what you mean! My wife can have rice, i gain just smelling it! yeah....we go to the Sumo Grill, they cook it in your face! I just decline the rice they make and have the steak, chicken, shrimp, veggies. You can do it!

Have a good time Kes! I guess I have been married for too long, I don't get the why's of relationships having to move so quickly to a live-in-everyday sleepover type of thing....whatever happened to dating and going to your own homes at night??? I have a customer here who practices musical pretend wives...they move in with him after about 2 weeks dating...live there for about 6 months...leave...then about two weeks later, another one moves in... What happened to go out and have a good time, then go home?
