HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. What a great gift I've received. DOWN 3 pounds. Yesterday we became great grandparents. Baby George born in West Virginia. Too far away from Southern California to go and visit. Talked to my older son today and learned his twins are due late March or Early April, and of course my favorite granddaughter is due September 1, 2017. I remember in college the big talk was ZPG. Of course I didn't realize then that at some of my friends were lesbians. Makes it easier not to have kids that way. I have always been the proverbial "mommy". Still love babies, but hubby says that at my "now" 69 and his 70 we probably won't have any more, so I guess it is good that the others are providing me with snugglies. I have been preparing and looking forward to dinner at P.F.Chang's for a week. Unfortunately we are not going to make it. We went down for a nap today and I slept through the afternoon. When Ern woke me he said it was too late to go out to eat. Truthfully I didn't feel like getting up, getting dressed and putting on make. So, Ernie said he would make steak. Ok with me. PJs, no makeup, no trying to figure out new carbs. Unfortunately that was an hour ago and he just came into the office and said he couldn't cook. He looks terrible and says he is in much pain. Oh well. There are times I wish we lived in a city so we could have something delivered. I need to take my blood sugar since it was before 14:00 when I took it last, but don't want to do it til dinner is imminent. I am NOT going to have left over beef pot roast AGAIN. We don't seem to have any tasty quick meals or thawed food other than the steak and I don't want to cook steak just for me. Cereal and fresh strawberries, Peanut Butter and jelly or marshmallow sandwich, grilled cheese or yogurt. All sound okay to me but I don't want to still be hungry after dinner. I can't sleep when I go to bed hungry. I could always go get fast food. That is something that I could do in my jammies. Back in the day, I would just gobble down anything that sounded good. Diabetes has forced me to take a closer look at what I'm eating. I am challenging myself to have a lower A1C than my last 8.5. Actually I'm trying for 7.0 but don't want to put too much of a strain on myself. Ern just yelled that Jeopardy is coming on and we usually watch that together so I guess going to fast food is out. Blood sugar is up to 185, which isn't as bad a many of my recent afternoon/evening reading of over 200. That's 2 units insulin for sugar count, now lets see how many for what I eat.
