After yesterday's 2.5 hrs on the ice, not far off a heavy hockey skating training session, my inner thighs and outer calf muscles were complaining bitterly when I started this morning's elliptical. Kept the resistance low for the first 15 mins until the old legs started to ease up and the endorphins started kicking in. At 25 mins, I was back up on the resistance and still able to achieve a reasonable 920 cals/hr burn rate for the first hour. The aching muscles are not used much during elliptical activity [since I'm not balancing on a steel blade!] but when I stopped, they did start bitching again for a while!

Back at the rink this afternoon for a couple hours, helping my daughter to learn during her spring break and me skating fast again and making those sharp power turns around the circles, but the legs were clearly tired and the old rec. hockey right knee was making its presence known. Need a few days rest to repair and build the leg muscles. But added some great calorie burn to the exercise routine.

This evening's dog walking was conducted with some stiffness, but not so as to slow me down. It only hurts when you stop!

Not much work left to reach that final goal!

Then the real work of maintenance begins :)
