I haven't been recording my boring, boring lack of food, but I have put a lot of words on paper! (Halfway, baby!) Sunday is Armistice Day, or what most people know as Veteran's Day. Guess what time we are meeting? Some of my extended family is taking my 93-year-old dad to lunch at our favorite steak place. I'll see if I can eat anything. If not, I'll be taking that deliciousness home with me.
My dad used to joke that he will outlive the lot of us, but he stopped that around me. I should tell him that I don't mind the gallows humor. I think it makes me fight harder against the monster in my gut.

I overdid the walking today, and got a little frustrated with the pain and my lack of ability to eat anything, so I had a shot of 1800 Silver. I enjoyed it, and the pain subsided. Does this mean that what I really need are muscle relaxants? Or is it just mood adjusters?

The Winter Texans are here. Will Doughnut Day happen? In an hour, I'll walk down to the office and see who shows. I only drink the coffee. Pain is a great teacher, so I won't be tempted. For a couple of weeks, I missed taking my blood glucose readings. This morning, it was 76 mg/dl. That is the first time I have seen my early morning reading so low! (Well, once I read it upside down and it was very low, but then I realized that the meter was upside down...)

Since not eating, I have felt very good. My body still have plenty of loose skin and alien invaders to burn for protein.

So far, no hunger. Thirty or more years ago, there was this idea passing around the dieting world that keeping one's calories below five hundred would keep the body from recording the weight. I doubt it, but a similar number is circulating again. I have not investigated it, but there is a book about eating for five days and fasting on weekends. Then, I learned that the authors' definition of fasting was anything below five hundred calories. I may read the book someday.
According to Dr. Fung, simply lowering calories without taking into account what kind of calories they are may lower one's metabolism. This will happen in spite of the exercise one does, so he says to concentrate on what raises insulin rather than raw calorie counts. He's not alone. Many doctors have become more vocal about this. Fats have very little effect on insulin. Some have called my fasting protocol the "Fat Fast" because I allow myself various fats. Whatever you call it, it is working. I also take supplements per my doctor's instructions. I am feeling much better than I did last week before I started this. Last week, the pain made me ready to die.

Numbers don't lie, but people lie about them. Sometimes, I wonder what lies I tell myself? Do I even want to know? I do know that last night I felt very hungry until I had a couple of bites of food. Then I felt fine. This morning I feel fine. The rest of what I prepared is in the freezer, so if I need to eat again, it is available, but if I don't, it is preserved.
I should check the election results online. I don't watch TV, because they lie a lot! It's all about the analysis, and I don't want to hear that. "Just the facts, ma'am." If you recognize THAT reference, then you are old. Most newer references make me say, "Huh?"
