So I've been checking blood glucose levels twice a day with the monitor they sent home. So far, I've had slightly impaired fasting and low blood sugar. My slightly impaired fasting numbers are 105-109 and my low numbers an hour after eating (and feeling headache/nausea) are 114-123. No high blood sugar yet, so at least the Metformin is doing the job it was hired to do, right? Anyway, I'm such a scaredy-monkey. My nurse said, "Just take this little thing, count to three and prick yourself." She said that would be easier than loading it in the auto loader that has a trigger which shoots in and out of your skin QUICKLY and less painfully.

"Derrr..Okay." Yeah. Not happening. Now I know why she said look while you do it or you will miss. I actually have to load it up in the little shooter thing cause me trying to do it to myself takes FORever. I did convince a friend to use one of the cartridge type stickers/lancets. My friends love me. She did it and now I'm not going to have to load those into the machine each time. I'm just not a rip the Band-aid off kind of girl. (Well, unless it's an actual Band-aid, and even then it depends on the circumstance.) I mean have you ever tried to sneak up and stab your own self? It's comical to say the least. Just one more motivator to keep my blood sugar under control, otherwise I will have to hire an actual monkey to follow me around for insulin shots. NO WAY will I be able to do it to myself. Scaredy-monkey.

yep. There's coffee in my protein shake. I love being efficient. I'm trying JAY ROBB's WHEY protein as a meal replacement shake because I have to eat so darn many times through the day. The fact that it has 1 carb and 25 grams of protein make it an ideal choice for me. It's much lower calorie than the bars, and I've figured out I can add coffee to it. I really don't like wasting in the kitchen. I'm a RRRer. (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

So...I put my extra coffee *here's the part where you seasoned coffee drinkers freak out on me* in the fridge. I made too much. Hey. I paid for the crap, and I'm not pouring it out. I'm thinking I can use it to flavor some Greek yogurt and make some pseudo java ice cream or throw it in a hi protein low carb "cheesecake" or something. Anyway, it hit me this morning when I decided fully that I was NOT in the mood for an "orange dreamsicle" shake.

My blender and I agreed. 6 oz of my cold Starbucks Espresso Roast, One Scoop of Jay Robb's, and a tablespoon of Ovaltine, with some ice and 1/2 cup of 2% organic milk, makes for a tasty kick in the knickers. Next time, I get the chocolate flavored protein shake mix. Or perhaps the vanilla. I do like Orange Creamsicles.. Maybe I will save this flavor and blend it with my lime fiber 50 calorie yogurt and eat it in the afternoons.

Now I need one of those 10 minute Ice cream makers and a new coffee pot. I'm sure of it. The blender also agrees with me on that.
