Hope Everyone's ready for the big feast. I'm hosting, (I've already complained about that, I know), and starting to feel in the "spirit", despite added pain.
I scored big time on Friday, when the owner got new office furniture for her seating area, and I was able to "haul away" her old chairs. Now there will be seating for my guests that won't require them to lump together on my small sofa, or sit in my Mom's wooden rocking chair.
I've got Vegan Pumpkin & Apple pies, mushroom gravy, braised collard greens w/tomatoes, rosemary rolls and a Mediterranean Dipping Plater on order at Whole Foods. I picked up a veggie platter (not vegan) at Sam's Club on Saturday, so all I've left to do is pick up the spiral cut Turkey Breast from Honey Baked Ham on my way home from work tonight. I'll be making vegan Cranberry Stuffing, and mashed sweet potatoes on the day. So far my guests are supposed to be bringing Fruit Salad, a Vegan Roast, Balsamic Brussels Sprouts, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Jellied Cranberry Sauce, Baked Beans, Broccoli Casserole, Shrimp w/cocktail sauce, and a nondairy whipped topping for the pies. That's with 5 confirmed and 2 maybe's attending. I think we have much to be Thankful for!
