I really considered not weighing today and trying your current challenge. I was relieved when I saw the number though. Maybe I could break up too now that I'm happier with what it's telling me? Also, do you know anything about treating warts on cattle? (strange segue)

I think not having the scale to tell me how well I'm doing it going to be good. Now I feel like I have to eat well because I'm second guessing if I'm up or down. Then again.. I'm only on the second day. I could snap and go nuts by next week. lol I've been asking farmers if cows really swim for a couple weeks now. Wart questions don't seem wierd anymore! What kind of warts? Like hairy heel warts.. the ones on their feet or the ones on their face?

If it's the warts on their head, body, the best way to get rid of them is liquid nitrogen. As the AI tech if they've got any extra to pour on...it will burn them off.

We only get a couple cows a year that will get face warts and it's usually the younger heifers. We leave them alone. Usually within 6 months they disappear on their own. If it's a bigger problem then our vet recommends a vaccine. These are milk cows though.. I'm not sure if they can use the same vaccines on beef cows.

Thank you both for the comments. These warts are on the face & shoulders. About 3 of our young heifers have them. I've been told to just leave them alone, but it seems like only one had them, then they spread to the other 2.....

They are contagious if they scratch on the same posts but they're purely cosmetic. The younger heifers are more susceptible so that’s probably why you’re seeing them. They do sell tropical ointments in the med magazines we get but we’ve never tried any of them and if I remember right they are expensive. I’m not sure how much the vaccines are. Our vet always recommended leaving them alone but said if you notice they are scratching them off then they risk getting infected and you'll want to watch them closely. My first heifer had them all over her face. She looked like a cow with acne. They did clear up on their own though.
