We're supposed to get major ice and snow starting tonight. Our power always goes out when that happens, so I need to think about good foods we can eat that won't require cooking. Nuts, fruit, tomatoes, avocado, canned tuna, sardines, whole wheat pita bread, some cheeses. That should be enough for a few days. We have a small camp stove for heating up soup. It kills me that we have a gas stove, but the darn thing won't work without electricity because it has an electric starter with a safety switch. Also can't burn wood in our fireplace because it won't work without our electric exhaust fan. That's just nuts!
4:50pm The sleet started an hour ago while walking Bubs. It was coming down hard and stinging my face. Ever since I got back in the house, I've been nibbling on snacks. I need to get a grip.
10:45pm We still have power, but the snow and sleet have been falling constantly since this afternoon. It's just a matter of time before it goes. I am still compulsively grazing on snacks. Maybe it's an instinctive thing prior to hibernation.
