Can't believe I did over an hour of exercises yesterday and shoveled the driveway then gained half a pound. Soothed myself with a bowl of Rice Krispies with walnuts and low fat milk!

Dont feel down... that Sounds like a great workout! I too have gotten really discouraged when noticing weight gain the day after working out like crazy ((very depressing!!!)). But I found a lot of great articles that explain reasons this may happen. In my opinion... its just water! Did you drink enough water when you were working out? Its odd but if our body thinks we have a shortage of water... We store it... Like a camel. If we consistently drink water throughout the day (and even more during a workout) our body starts to realize hey maybe I it don't need to store all the extra water. Everyone is different, but many people retain extra water after working out (minus the immediate water loss from sweat). Try your own experiment (I have done this) weigh yourself immmediately before and then again a few minutes after a workout. I almost always gain weight the day after working out. I need to start drinking more water too!!!! ((((Remember our body is 50% to 75% water!!!)))

Don't over think it, just take it and move on. It's frustrating, but next weigh in you could be down that 1/2 lb and more. Be proud of the things you accomplished yesterday because you did healthy things, don't dwell on the scale too much. Keep moving and you'll see that scale go in the right direction eventually. :)

I agree with Jess! Probably just water. Sometimes after a really intense day of working out I'll feel sore the next day or two, and my scale will either go up a little, or stay the same. Then once my muscles recover/ the soreness starts to go away, my scale will suddenly drop! Also if you have alot of sodium in your diet, it can make your body retain quite a bit of water! I've dropped 32.5lbs this month. But I guarantee that 10lbs of that was just water from sodium rich New Year's Day food!! :D Give it a few days and drink plenty of water! I bet that scale will start moving on down!

Ok, so good to hear from everyone. Yes, I drink water during workouts, but I did eat pastrami for lunch yesterday...and today. Uh oh. That may be the culprit.

You can change your food journal so it shows your sodium intake as well as carbs/fat/protein. I keep sodium on mine so I'm very aware of it. :)

Hi all --looking for some great veggie dishes that are quick and easy to make....

Go girl with the exercise! I have never done snow removal, but understand its heavy, hard work. Very proud of your determination! The sodium in the pastrami most likely made you retain water which caused your slight wt. gain. I need to take a page from your play book and get back to my exercises...very proud of you.
