I've had a setback. Tuesday I started feeling a kidney stone around 4pm. I was supposed to work a night shift so I powered through but by the time I got to work the pain was pretty bad. I lasted an hour before they told me to go to the ER.
At the ER, I had a small stone and a big UTI. By 4am I was septic. They took me to surgery and placed a stent. They had to pump me full of fluids to keep me from going into septic shock. My BP was 73/49 at one point.
I'm home now, with 10 more days of IV antibiotics. But I'm retaining a ton of water from all the fluids they gave me. I missed my shot, but that didn't really matter because I was too sick to really eat much, plus the hospital food didn't appeal. I've got another surgery at some point, so I'll have to stop my shot before that again.
Right now I don't feel terrible. Exercise is out of the question, but I can do my own ADLs. The stent isn't uncomfortable, which is great because usually they are unbearable. I took my shot yesterday and will not be tracking food for a bit to focus on getting what I need. I'll eat what I crave within reason. I will make sure to get the protein I need for healing. And I'll have to do a 24hr urine to see if there are dietary reasons for the stones. I suspect my high protein intake didn't help any, but we'll see. I may have to pivot and figure out something else to keep me losing.
