I had stopped using whey protein to boost my protein intake as I thought it was affecting my breathing. Pulmonary function has somewhat improved but weight loss was affected....interesting!!
I am, once again, introducing the whey protein at 1/2 the recommended dosage...let's see if I can find a happy balance.

Is specific to whey? Can you try Casein, egg, or beef protein perhaps? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Try a Pea Protien!!!

Pea/rice blend is a better option as it will provide a more complete amino acid profile, similar to whey. Pea on its own is ok, but not as good as a blend. 😉

ThnQ to StomachMonkeys and spencergirly for your input!! ♡ I am in the process of figuring out how foods affect both my COPD and R.A Inflammation. Soya, gluten and dairy wreak havoc with both. My body responds quite well to the added protein in my diet, I just have to find a palatable powder within my financial budget.....that's the tricky part! LoL

Leanfit at Costco is reasonably priced if that’s an option for you. They have dairy and non dairy options. The leanfit veggie protein is a mix of pea, hemp, and rice proteins with flax and chia seed. Myprotein.com always has coupon codes available too, as well as sample sizes so you can test without spending a fortune 😎

I have lupus, and I was strongly advised that if you have SL,RA or MS, to stay away from whey. I never really took it that seriously, then I watched the documentary “Living proof” and they touched base on it again as a detrimental addition to your diet, so I have avoided Whey since. If you have some time on your hands, you should give the documentary a try. It is quite interesting.

Just out of curiosity, as I couldn’t find any data in a quick search of research papers, what reasons did they give to avoid whey? Outside of dairy intolerances, I’m not coming up with much.

There are sooo many 'documented cases' of the negative impact of both animal protein and plant protein. In the end, we have to make a conscious decision to eat better and get more exercise! Unfortunately ALL food is negatively impacted by chemicals, even what we grow/raise in our own backyards! eg. DDT was banned in 1972 but did you know it is viable in water for more than 150 years? All those farmers & industries that used DDT up until 1972 contributed to the leaching of DDT into our underground water aquifers...which means that our drinking water is still contaminated with DDT!! I truy have a weird way of looking at our world LoL

Stomach monkeys, I will ask my specialist for an in depth explanation when I see him next and definitely let you know! From what I experienced… I was reacting physically to a lot of unknown things, and I was told to eliminate a bunch of stuff because they can cause your immune system to go into overdrive, but negatively. Apparently whey is one of the common things that trigger a negative effect as well as gluten, salt, night shades, sugar and canola oil.
