It happened again...

I finished my workout and was getting ready to take my shower when it happened. I had one of those naked mirror moments that makes me want to cry in frustration. I work so hard and I lose pounds, and I lose inches, but not where it counts. It makes me wish I could just have the fat sucked out of my belly and my love handles and be done with it.**

I mean I know that there's been improvement in that area (I think), but it's so frustrating to see it be so small. So I finally did it. I took the bikini pictures that I'd been avoiding for so long. I haven't taken measurements to go with them, I'm hoping that the pictures will be able to speak for in the future.

** By done with it, I don't mean the lifestyle change, I mean the frustration and the stress and the goals that never seem to hit.

Hi - thanks for sharing. I can totally relate. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be happy with what I see in the mirror. It's so easy to have these negative thoughts creep in. I just try to remember that quote: "we are our own worst critic."

We try so hard to look like magazine models when in fact we should really just focus on how good we look with our cloths on and imagine the magazine body is under the clothes. Try to focus on what you're doing for yourself by making healthy choices - I find it helps keep my confidence up during those mirror moments!

Thanks guys. I definitely don't want to look like a model, but I would like to have a smaller waist than my hips or at least the same. :)

Losing weight makes you a smaller version of what you are now. If you want to change your bodies composition, you need to lose the fat and kick up your exercise. You need a combination of strength training and cardio. There are lot's of dvd's you can do at home that will help you firm up (no you won't bulk up). Your diet is the number one thing to help you get lean. You need to build your diet around whole foods. Plenty of lean protein, dairy, fruits and veggies. Drink enough water to flush out sodium and stay hydrated. Watch the processed foods. By focusing on a clean diet, it will help you get leaner and lose all over. Also, there are certain foods that can help reduce belly fat better than others. Google them and incorporate them in to your diet. You can do it if you set your mind to it.

Thanks for the encouragement Suzi. Veggies are hard for me because I didn't grow up having to eat them. I'm working on getting them in there and I do try to easy as cleanly as I can.not quite there, but much better than I used to be. Getting strength in is easy for me, finding time for good cardio is another story.

Yes to the strength training. If you really want to reshape your body, cardio alone isn't going to do it. Get a personal trainer for at least 1 or 2 sessions so he/she can develop a routine for you to reach your goals.
