Heather MacD's Notizen, 09 Mai 24

Hi everyone,

Currently I am not weighing myself as I am sporting an AirCast and full leg brace due to multiple fractures in my right leg. I am not going to go into too much detail as there are legal stuff pending that I don't want to mess with, but long story short I was hit by a car moving backwards as I was crossing the street with my rollator. I have a right leg proximal fibular fracture + tibial plateau fracture as well as a possible broken ankle/foot.

I am still testing my fasting blood sugars and I am still mainly Carnivore for my diet. But it appears that it will be at least another 4 weeks or so (already 4 weeks in) before the cast/brace will be allowed to be taken off. Since I am not allowed to do any weight bearing on the right leg, I've had to learn how to transfer myself from chair to walker to bed or to commode. I'm developing muscles fast in my upper body to do this. The last time I weighed myself I had reached 213 lbs. Once I am fully healed from all of this, I will be doing my usual posting of weight & measurements.

But I hope all of you are having a blessed day day, week, month!

All the best in your recovery…and the legal bit too. If you’re interested, there has been some data showing that doing some regular resistance training on uninjured parts of the body also seems to have a positive carryover to the injury that is not being trained. Something simple like resistance bands can be helpful for this. Either way, wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Nasty breaks Heather. As an aside, I was non weight bearing for 4 months in 2017, in hospital for 1 month and another 3 months in convalescent care and wheelchair bound having to keep my leg at a 90 degree angle. Physio team there was fabulous. For cardio they had me doing 1 legged recumbent stepping for 45 min/day and upper body weights for 2 hours. When at month 5 I was allowed to weight bear again the injured side was atrophied and couldn't support a darn thing. Thanks to all the work done on both cardio and the uninjured body parts, learning to walk again and actually being able to go home and manage alone was possible. As a result, strongly recommend both cardio and weight work to prep you for when you're free of devices. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
