First time ever calculating calories and actually sizing meals and I’m extremely hungry. I think it’s in my head more than anything. Any tips on how to keep your mind off of wanting to eat ?

Brush your teeth, drink hot tea (no sugar or honey), look at pictures of bathing suits or a smaller pair of pants that you want to fit back in, read a book, play a game. Hope some of these help!

My mom is a tea junkie so i guess I’ll head to her house tomorrow and raid her cabinet lol. Why buy what i can get for free. Lol. Any specific kind ?

Lots of veggies, like cold salads or steamed broccoli, artichoke hearts, peppers and salsas. Broths. I also try to hit 100 grams of protein every day. If I have a bread thing, I avoid potato and rice. I try to go for volume.

My first trainer laid out rules for the first few months: no white rice, no white potatoes, no white bread. Nothing fried. No juices. 60 ounces of water every day.

I agree with Malkin about hot tea. A hot drink will make me feel full. I usually stop eating between 2-3pm and keep from feeling hungry by drinking water, diet soda. If I still feel hungry hot tea really helps. Walking also helps me from thinking about eating. I know some teas are considered healthy but I like lemon lift - there aren't any calories in the tea, depends on what you add to it. I like honey (I'm not on a low carb diet).

It comes down to preference as far as tea choices go...some will say just this or just that, but really, it's whatever you like. Me? If I could, it'd be a nice black tea with passion fruit and apricot....all day, every day...but I make do with whatever I can get, be it herbal or green, Darjeeling or Oolong. ^^

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will try the tea idea and see if that helps. I always heard that white rice is not good for you, I’ll have to cut that out my diet tomorrow because I’ve already had it for dinner. 😩

dont go too low on calories, you'll be too hungry to stay consistant,and focused.if ur like me it took a long time to put that weight on.dont be in a rush to lose it .slow and steady!find out what ur daily caloric usage is,and go 500 to700 calories lower. youll lose a couple pounds a week,maybe 10 pound a month,by beach time that could be 40-50 lb,s. do it with a smile not a frown.

oh yeah, i do tea also.i've got 8 or 9 diff.tea's.bulk from amazon.allways a tea kettle ready.

Hot tea is always a good idea! I 💚 herbal teas myself. Bone broth is also a good way to get the munchies to back off, if you're wanting something savory. If you aren't doing a low-carb diet, rice is fine in moderation. Brown rice, Red rice or Black rice are all higher in fiber than white rice, but even a little Jasmine rice is ok from time to time. I'm rambling, sorry! 😉

I just picked up a paperback of EFT (aka tapping) for weight loss. I’ll post about it after I’ve tried it. I lost the first 20# very slowly, and am stalled between 203 & 205. If gone off the wagon too many times since Christmas. When faced with desserts or breads, I eat like a starving person. What I did between Sept and Thanksgiving is simply not have those items in the house.

don't calculate calories, calculate macros, you'll get a much better balance that way. proteins and fats will keep you full much longer than carbs, and when you do eat carbs aim for complex over simple carbs. avoid processed foods as much as possible and aim for wholesome foods. On top of that, look for free caloric foods. for example, pickles only have ~5 calories but they'll suppress the hunger pains for a little while.
