second journal for the day...thougths while i walked this morning...i often go back thru my food journal an weight chart...when my weight is down..an im doing great...i can look back to see what im eating an why the little blue dots are all lined up an headed down...it also works to show me what i ate them days them little blue dots are headed in the wrong direction...lately ive been following the primal blueprint plan...plus watching my sugar an fat intake...good days bad days...its all about finding what works for you an stickin with a plan that you can stay on most of the days...at the same time when you plateau an cant seem to do anything to move them scales sometimes a cheat day will throw your body off an before you know it your back on the downward spiral...your body gets use to the same routine so easy....and like exercise sometimes you just have to mix it up some...to keep the ole body guessing whats in store for it...

gooooooood thursday mornin...well...guess its friday...days are passing by so quick ...not sure why...exercise is lacking ...and eating isnt as good as i would like...just cant seem to stick with the plan lately...not really sure why...alot of it is the candy box in the kitchen that sits out in plain site...il be glad when its gone..its a distraction...i tell myself im not gonna eat anything out of it...an next thing i kno...im in the box...with one or 2 pieces ...in past years it would of been more pieces at one time...just feel like im letting myslf down and with it in the kitchen...i have no control over it...the good news...down to the bottom layer...so not alot is left...colder this morning in the 30s this morning...once the sun or the daylight hours happen...the plan is to do a morning walk for a change...get back into some kind of a habit...even if its not a steady one..need to find my motivation....well..need to get moving...have a great one....

do humans need more sleep in winter months....read this article an thought id pass it along...

During this time of year, it's hard to not be jealous of the various squirrels, hedgehogs, possums, chipmunks, bats, skunks, lemurs, and other small mammals that lower their body temperatures and their metabolisms for the winter, napping in their burrows until the snow goes away. Bears don't exactly hibernate, but they do spend winters in their dens, napping and caring for newborn cubs. Even some species of reptiles and amphibians hibernate, remaining in a sluggish torpor throughout the winter when there's not enough heat to raise their body temperatures.

Humans, of course, do not hibernate, but it can feel much more difficult to get out of bed on a chilly winter morning than it does in the height of summer. Some people take this as a welcome sign that being awake during the winter is an affront to nature. Or at the very least, they assume that humans need more sleep during winter. Is that true?

The Straight Talk

We don't exactly need more sleep during the wintertime, but due to factors beyond our control, we definitely want it.

Humans' sleep and wake cycles are regulated by light. Light suppresses the production of melatonin by the brain's pineal gland. As daylight fades, the pineal gland produces more melatonin, which causes us to feel sleepy. In the morning, the gland is instructed to stop producing the hormone, which aids in waking up. We feel sleepier in the winter because there's less daylight, hence more melatonin. We wake up when it's still dark outside, before the pineal gland has been instructed to shut down, and it starts up again long before we're actually ready to go to bed. That adds up to many lethargic mornings and evenings.

Another dirty trick that makes us want more sleep is that wintertime affords us with prime sleeping conditions. It's dark outside and the house is cool and still-a perfect recipe for a good night's sleep. No wonder so many people have trouble leaving bed on a January morning.

Although many people end up waking later and retiring earlier during the cold, dark months, there's no real biological need for getting extra sleep during the winter. There's more variation in sleep needs among individuals than there is in a single individual between seasons. That is, some people naturally need more sleep than others need in order to function optimally, and that number doesn't change with the seasons.

goooooooooood thursday mornin...60 outside again this morning...rain is moving outta the area finally...an temps will be falling thru out the day down to 45 i think they said...i did manage to do 2x30 min on bike yesterday...it was a challenge...just to get back on it for that last 30 min an stay on it...but did...after my ride i did alot of mindless eating...just couldnt seem to eat whatever it was i needed to fullfill my taste...hopefully that is over with ...weight is up this morning...but i kno its just fluid...that an that 3 pounds of candy that mom got at walmart for 10.00...not sure why she bout it..but its a distraction...be glad when its gone...wish she would just put it outta site...the plan today is to get some exercise an move this body...work off the extra that i put on yesterday...get it back down to my comfort zone...might be the mt.dew i drank yesterday...got tired of seeing it in the fridge...an drank it for lunch...first day in several i didnt take a nappy...and still managed to sleep my 8 in a row last night...less temptations help me stay on track easier...so many this time of year...need to make some tuna salad ahead today...this month is flying right by...as do most days anymore..hoping to get a morning walk in this morning...and if not...then this afternoon....have a great one...

goooooood wednesday mornin...wakin up to 50 outside with more rain...cant believe this weather in dec this year...odd weather...im liking it...but...living in midwest...am use to shovelin snow...lol...i need the exercise...its a different workout...anyways...after my errands yesterday morning...i took a nappy after lunch...usually i get cold, lay down on the bed...an an hour or so later...wake up warm an feelin recharged for the rest of the day...an i think alot of my takin naps is just the weather...the colder temps and the rainy weather...should of went for a walk, between rain showers...but thinkin about it and actually doing it...just never happened...days are passin by fast ...11 more days till xmas...glad im done...went to walmart yesterday just to look at sweat pants...ended up buying me a set...my others were xl...but were getting baggy...i got a pair of large....and they fit so much better....getting the weight off..is my accomplishment to myslf for all the hard work thru the year...with more to accomplish again this year...the weight just doesnt fall off like it once did when i started...now its the stubborn flab or fat that im seeing improvements on...and as long as i can see the loss in clothes or the scales reading...then thats enough to keep me focused an in the right frame of mind...its a slow process, but one well worth every drop of sweat...have a greattttttttttttttt day...
